Double Knit Fabric Strip Bag

Another bag made by knitting fabric strips - this time using the double knit you can achieve on a Knifty Knitter long loom or a double rake knitting loom. The texture of this is wonderfully squishy and I've added an extra long braided strap to let the bag hang from one shoulder to the opposite hip.

Armed with a wood-bottomed basket that caught my eye and an idea, I headed down to our local hardware store in search of a helpful employee. Luckily, I found one who would rather help me than stock shelves!

Raffia Basket Knit on a Round Loom

My first effort on the Knifty Knitter round looms was this little basket. It wasn't difficult as long as I was gentle and didn't pull the raffia too forcefully with the hook. I think it would be nice to nestle a little spring flowerpot in it or maybe use it to hold some potpourri or a pillar candle.

Origami

Origami Balloon Fish and Crane

How long has it been since you did origami? There's just something captivating about being able to take a piece of paper and turn it into a swan, a balloon, or a jumping frog. Kids absolutely love being able to do this and teach other kids. It's also a wonderful little time-filler at restaurants or in waiting rooms.

Woven Karate Belt Bag (like a Seatbelt Bag)

Colored Woven Karate Belt Bag - Front

First in the "What Else Could I Do With That?" series.

Have you seen the purses called "Seatbelt Bags"? They're woven with seatbelt straps, look cool, and are, I hear, very durable, if somewhat heavy. I love the look of them.

Anyway, one day while organizing our house I noticed just how many karate belts we had in various closets - especially the white ones that come with every new karate outfit that a growing kid needs. An idea began to form.
